The Fairleigh Dickinson University Department of Literature, Languages, Writing, and Humanities is looking for part-time (adjunct) faculty to teach in-person sections of Japanese language courses on the Florham Campus (https:

edu/campuses/florham-campus/) in Madison NJ, starting on August 29 for the Fall 2022 semester.

Students taking Japanese at FDU cover a typically broad spectrum of interests and motivations, with career plans that include business, education, health sciences, arts and letters, hospitality and tourism, law, politics, public service, animation, graphic design, film studies, and more.
Some are already convinced of the beauty and usefulness of Japanese; others are satisfying a Gen Ed requirement and could use convincing.
We hope you can make a first- or second-semester course not only rigorous but also engaging, relevant, and fun for all our students! Fall sections are currently scheduled for Mondays 1:
00-3:
20 and Thursdays 1:
00-2:
15 (Beginning Japanese and Japanese Practicum, 4 credits total, guaranteed to run) and Mondays and Thursdays 11:
30-12:
45 (Intermediate Japanese, 3 credits, will run depending on enrollment).
If you are successful in the position, teaching should be available every semester going forward, and you will have input into when courses are scheduled.
Students have sometimes continued through third-year Japanese.
We also have a Japanese Studies minor which would present opportunities to teach culture courses in English according to your expertise and interest.
Required
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in Japanese or a relevant field, and evidence of excellence teaching Japanese at the college level.
Any non-academic professional experience using Japanese is also a plus.
Minimum requirements Degree in Japanese or a relevant field.
Experience and evidence of effectiveness in teaching Japanese.
Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
